6. FIRST WEEK OF COLLEGE -- first day jitters, moving in, and making friends!!

Hiya friends!!  Welcome back to my lil blog :)  This week has been an adventure!  I moved away from home for college, and let me tell ya, it truly is a whirlwind haha.  In this post I will be talking about my experiences this week, and some tips/tricks on first day jitters, moving in, and making new friends.

Here's some quotes I've liked over the last few days!

I feel like a lot of the time, we expect people to come to us.  We sit at home and do nothing, and then expect people with good energy to just show up at our doorstep.  This is obviously not true, and you're probably just going to end up being sad and lonely.  You have to put out the energy you want to attract!

I love, love, LOVE.  This second quote.  Yes, I know it's simple, but it just really resonates with me, and is such an important affirmation.  If you're reading this, I want you to know that YOU HAVE PURPOSE!!!  You are an incredible individual, and deserve the world.  Never let anyone tell you otherwise. <3

Alrightyyyy now that that's done, let's get into it!!

FIRST WEEK OF COLLEGE--first day jitters, moving in, and making friends!!

Like I said earlier, this first week has been an adventure.  I moved in on Monday, and was so nervous and anxious all day long.  My mom was spending the day with me and I was dreading the goodbye.  When it came time for my mom to leave, we said a teary goodbye, and then I went to Home Depot with my roommate haha.  Brynlee if you're reading this, THANK YOU SO MUCH for coming to Home Depot on Monday lol!!  I was feeling so sad and lonely, but when we went to Home Depot together, I felt so much better.  So that's my first tip!  After your parents leave, just jump right in and go do something fun.  Whether you're going to get Chick-Fil-A, or going to the local hardware store to get more bed risers, just go do something.  It will make you feel so much better. :)

I don't know how it is for you, but my campus is MASSIVE, and it can be so overwhelming at times!!  If you know me personally, you know that I am absolutely terrible at directions.  I seriously have no sense of where I am, and I am so bad at reading a map.  So you can imagine my fear when I took a look at the campus map and had no idea where to even start.  My tip for this problem is to ask for help! It is completely okay to ask for help when you need it.  Find someone who looks like they know what they're doing, and just ask if they can point you in the right direction.  I promise you 9/10 times, they will be more than willing to help you.  You don't have to do this alone!

Lastly, I want to touch a little bit on making new friends.  I've found that connecting with new people during these first few days is VITAL to having a good experience!  I personally have always had a hard time making new friends, but when I came to college, I just decided that I was going to put myself out there and just go for it.  And that's what I've done.  I have found so many new friends and met so many amazing people, just by simply putting myself out there.  This sounds so simple and basic, but seriously just get out there and be yourself, and I promise you will find your people.

Well, that's really all I have for now!  I hope you enjoyed reading this little post, and it helps you out in your first week of college journey.  Remember who you are, and never give up.  Love you all!!!

xoxo, Leah Marie
